Well I have been very busy applying to various schools for a full time teaching position; as a result my art production has suffered. This small creation is the latest addition to my work.

Classroom doodles

Well as you may or may not know I have been attending a program in order to obtain my teaching license. This program conducts class twice a week , and like many artists taking notes during a lecture, I find myself sketching rather than note-taking. These "doodles" began to compile and grow into a body of work. Although I do not consider these works final works of art, they do reflect many ideas I have for future pieces and incorporate familiar icons within my own artistic lexicon. I have not posted anything for a while because I have been consumed with student teaching and creating lesson art lesson plans for my own students. These doodles are the closest thing to a finished product as of late. So as always I appreciate any feedback and I hope you enjoy my classroom doodles.

Lesson Plan

Well it has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy, working on various projects, and none of them near completion. It is this state of being incomplete that makes me weary from posting any new art. However, with that said, I have decided to put up a work in progress. Over the past few weeks I have been constructing a self portrait lesson plan designed for high School students. it involves looking up celebrity photos and constructing a collage of sorts from the chosen photos. The lesson entitled "Movie Me,' as cleverly labeled by my partner, is an egocentric exercise in pondering the thought;"if a movie was made about you, what actor would play you?' Needless to say this lesson plan quickly morphed into my own art project and transcended any normal self portrait exercise. The image you see is a construction that began as an exemplar for the students to follow, and later evolved into my own personal project. Although in its current, unfinished state, I did not intend for the students to witness this piece as their exemplar to follow; however the animation is intended for student viewing. I plan on having students observe the various stages in the process to gain an understanding of the direction the project is to take. I hope you find the product interesting, and I will post future developments of this images evolution.

A Night at the Movies: A free Lunch Studios gallery event

Just a couple of pics from the Thursday night opening gallery event. It has been a whirlwind week for me; having a black belt test, gallery opening, and trying to get over a nasty cold. You probably recognize this piece from the earlier posted blog, where I show the preliminary work. On your right is some classic renderings of some classic monsters by artist Keith Murphy, and on the left you can just see a small bit of Matt Ryan's JAWS piece - I still wish he would have added the shark bite! I would like to thank Free Lunch Studios who hosted the event and provided such a wonderful opportunity to showcase local work. I hope you enjoy my rendition of the classic Frankenstein, and hope to hear more feedback.

Recently, at my last ARC workshop, they had us create nameplates for ourselves. This was my design.

Acrylic Painting Class in Middletown

Just a small announcement, I am scheduled to teach an Acrylic Painting class at the Green Street Arts Center in Middletown, CT. The class will be held on Wednesday Evenings at 6pm, and registration is now open. There will be two sessions available, each with seperate registration. If you have been following my blogs, facebook, and have the desire to paint, or just want to learn, come check it out! I will focus on technique as much as subject matter. Eden Through Barb Wire

Well the long wait is over, the book cover is finally done!!!! It has taken a wile, especially with working 4 jobs, seven days a week, teaching art workshops, my martial arts classes,and of course finalizing other projects like the movie poster project, zombie covers, and pinups- exhausted yet? The landscape view is indicative of a back to cover (wrap- around) style.I have really enjoyed this project, and it has thematically opened new ideas and projects within my art; mostly centered around theology.
